Academic Refugee Staff Training Week - Oslo, Norway

The staff training has two modules and multiple target groups. Module one: Understanding Academic Freedom and related Higher Education Values; Module two: Welcoming Refugees and Threatened Academics to Campus
Modules:
• Understanding Academic Freedom and Related Higher Education Values – this module will discuss the concept of academic freedom and related higher education values, and share experiences with regard to their implementation at home and in partnerships.
• Welcoming Refugees and Threatened Academics on Campus – this module will focus on sharing experiences and policies of European HEIs on the practical aspects of hosting refugees and threatened academics, including qualifications recognition, language training, integration into study programmes, handling risk and security, psychosocial support, and much more.
Target groups:
~This staff training course is aimed at academic and administrative staff of all levels, especially those involved in welcoming refugees and threatened academics on campus. We welcome Vice-Rectors for International Policy, IROs, staff working on inclusion and widening participation, those with an interest in instruments for promoting higher education values and those involved in negotiating or implementing inter-university partnerships. Successful candidates for the training will have a strong interest and capacity to replicate the training at their home institutions and/or at other institutions. Refugee academics or professionals currently in teaching or administrative positions are strongly encouraged to apply.
~The staff week will put a strong emphasis on sharing experiences and exchanging good practices between colleagues from many European universities facing similar challenges.
Higher education teaching staff may choose an option with only the first module 19-21 June.
